MGP Wins National Award

The National Partnership for Educational Access is a U.S. leader in seeking proven models that increase educational opportunities for underrepresented students.

Middle Grades Partnership is gratified that NPEA has honored our groundbreaking work in Baltimore with its inaugural Award for Excellence in Collaboration. Among the 12 other programs nominated from across the U.S. were such organizations as Dartmouth College’s Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth Program, the Harlem Educational Activities Fund, the PricewaterhouseCoopers Impact Program, and the Rutgers Future Scholars Program.

Karin Elliott, Executive Director of NPEA, noted in presenting the award that “MGP more than demonstrates what can be accomplished by working together with a wide range of committed partners to improve the lives of students and families.”

Accepting the award at NPEA’s 2011 conference in Atlanta, MGP Executive Director Beth Drummond Casey remarked that “NPEA’s recognition affirms the MGP model and inspires us to continue pushing the envelope on behalf of middle school kids in Baltimore.”
